Thank you to visit my little corner, and welcome to my
particular world!
My name is David Caballero. I was born in January 1963 in Madrid, Spain,
the city where I live currently.
I always had a tight connection with Nature, a love that I cultivate
since I was a child. I love to walk in the forest, watch birds and contemplate
beauty in all its manifestations.
My education is in Forestry Engineering, a particular branch of Civil
Engineering which is related to planning and management of natural resources
and infrastructures in the wild.I studied in the Polytechnic University of Madrid, School of Forestry.
I have specialised in the study of forest fires,
the phenomenon and the natural and social risk, and how to prevent and suppress
them. Early in the eighties I developed my first decision support system based
on computer models,
particularly fire spread, called CARDIN. By then I was researcher in the University.
Since then, and for 15 years, I have participated in several research projects
about forest fires and information systems, such as FOMFIS, FORFAIT, E-FIS,
WARM, AUTOHAZARD and EUFIRELAB. All co-funded by the European Commission
within the R+TD Framework Programmes. This is my current professional activity
that has rendered a number of publications
on this subject.
And this activity keeps me travelling all the time around Europe, and
this has given me the opportunity to make very good friends and visit places
that now are part of my life, such as Greece, a land that I enjoy and
love so much.
My second love (but not less important) is music. I play keyboards since
I was just 7 years old. I was educated in piano playing and, afterwards,
continued studying harmony and composition on my own. I cultivated several styles,
Jazz, Ragtime, Bluegrass and finally Electronic and Celt. Today I have a digital studio
full of synthesisers and keyboards connected to a computer.

I always try to communicate my experiences and feelings trhough music. In 1999
I published my compositions in mp3.com
portal under the nickname of GNOMUSY (Gnome of Music) and had a neat
success. That pushed me to keep publishing music in Internet and to finish two
D.A.M. mp3 albums, "Scent of Light" and "The Edge" which
were available in such portal. Recentrly I launched a real CD album, "Ethereality"
which was published by Non Profit Music in Spain and Only New Age Music in
USA. All the proceeds of the album sales go directly as donations to Doctors
Without Borders in Spain for humanitarian causes. You can buy
this album and contribute to this enterprise.
My third important activity is sports, particularly long-distance
running. Recently I finished my first marathon
(Madrid, 2003), and that was a very intense and emotional experience. I run
every day and have participated in many popular races.
